Hi I had a situation where the software we used to sumbit pickup the bank account opening date to create the accounting periods, which meant accourdiong to HMRC we were lat to submit and received a fine. If i did redubmited amended returns would this automatically cancel the fine? submited Period one end October 2022, Period 2 end july 2023 HMRC is saying my period should have been from incorporation to July 2023. is is possible to resubmit and this would then cancel the penalties? many thanks in advance.

Hi VVictor Brum,
We would advise you  contact us here:
Corporation Tax: general enquiries
To check/amend the accounting periods held on our records before submitting any amendment.
If both returns were submitted under one set of accounts it may be that only a filing date amendment is required.
Either way we can advise you better with a telephone call, or if you prefer you can write to us at:
Corporation Tax Services, HM Revenue and Customs, BX9 1AX
Advising what the accounting periods should be and including your UTR.
Thank you.
