I am a sole trader, trading under my own name to provide design services to clients. As I work from home, the business is registered to my home address. I would like to omit listing an address on my business invoices for privacy reasons. I am aware that this question has been asked here before, with answers usually directing people to the "Invoicing and taking payment from customers" [https://www.gov.uk/invoicing-and-taking-payment-from-customers/invoices-what-they-must-include] page for guidance – however, I would like to check my understanding of the information provided. The "Invoicing and taking payment from customers" page states that "If you're a sole trader, the invoice must also include: an address where any legal documents can be delivered to you **if** you are using a business name." Furthermore, the "Set up as a sole trader" [https://www.gov.uk/set-up-sole-trader] page states that "You must include your name and business name **(if you have one)** on official paperwork, for example invoices and letters." It is therefore my understanding that as I am sole trader who trades under my own name, that is to say **without** a business name, that I am okay to issue invoices without a postal address. Could you please confirm that this is the case?

Hi,

Although the below does not mention including a business address on invoices,

Set up as a sole trader

the following confirms that sole traders need a business address on invoices.

Invoicing and taking payment from customers

You could consider using a PO box as an alternative.

Thank you.
