Once CGT forms have been submitted online, and receipt has been acknowledged, should the tax payer then be proactive and push the Inland Revenue for further action, or just sit it out, knowing that the CGT payment deadline is approaching and that there are fines for late payment? I completed my own CGT form online last month and haven’t heard anything since. I was expecting to log on today and find an Action waiting for me (I can’t even see the Actions area on the menu.) I am worried that time will run out, and I will be fined for not having paid my tax on time. How long will it take for a CGT form to be checked and for an Action to appear? I submitted a second CGT form on behalf of my husband at the same time as I sent my own (I have emails acknowledging both) but I cannot even see my husband’s form online now, I can only see my own form. I am going to assume that the Inland Revenue will take the next step, e.g. either posting a letter to my husband, or putting some information about his CGT decision on my online account, so that we can pay his bill. Or am I being too passive, and putting us at risk of a fine?
