Our mother's house was sold recently. I am claiming full relief on CGT as a dependant relative was living there since '67. Can I do this for the house i.e. so that none of the beneficiaries have to submit a CGT return? if yes, how do it do this? If not then how can I do this on my tax return. I don't see this option (to claim full relief) Also if the other beneficiaries do not normally fill in a a self assessment, how do they submit it as full relief and no CGT to pay thanks

Hi ,

For UK residential properties, this needs to be reported within 60 days if any gain is due.

As you are claiming dependant relative relief to make a gain of nil, you do not need to report it.

Please refer to :

www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/capital-gains-manual/cg65570  to ensure this relief applies

Thank you .
