I’m currently selling a property and the buyers survey has highlighted some issues that require further investigation and remedial work by tradesmen. Can I claim this as an expense in the same way that I can claim legal costs etc. Also as the property is empty and I need to check it on a regular basis can I claim mileage for these visits.

Hi,

No. These are classed as general costs in maintaing your property and not deductable. Please refer to below to see what is allowable.
