My mum recently died and her ex partner is jointly listed on the deeds as proprietor of her house. We have been told the house is his through survivorship. He doesn't want the house and wants to gift it to my sister and myself. Do we have to pay CGT on this ?. Any insight is much appreciated.

Hi James,
No CGT will be due on you at the time of gift. This will only be the case if/when you sell. The ex partner, however, will be liable to CGT as it will be seen as a disposal when it is not his main residence.
Thank you.
