My Wife has already several weeks ago completed her self assessment for tax year 2023-2024 for the final year that she was renting out a property that she owned. On the self assessment form still ticked that she was no longer going to be renting out the property. In fact the property had stood empty from September 2023. The property has recently sold and capital gains tax has been paid to HMRC. The confusing is around what if anything needs to be done next as it said something about declaring the gain on self assessment but this has as mentioned already been returned for last year unless she has to do another self assessment next year in April or even sooner! Please could you kindly advise to put our minds straight.
