Hi all, For the tax year of 2023/2024, I had no income other than interest from my savings. I sold a flat, which had been my only home for the previous 10 years in Hong Kong, in December last year, and then I moved to the UK in January this year. First of all, am I able to claim Principle Private Residence Relief? At what stage should I make the claim? Secondly, do I still need to fill out a tax return and then claim relief afterward? Thanks so much.

Hi Jimjota35,
Please refer to: Guidance HS283 Private Residence Relief (2024) and Self Assessment tax returns.
Thank you.
