My father died 6 months ago. I went through probate and submitted 90k for his home and bank account. I've just sold the house for 65k which is under the probate so I never made profit. Do i need to declare anything?

Hi,

This depends on whether you sold to help someone out as its not been sold at market value. You can refer to the calculator here:

Tax when you sell property

Thank you.

I wasn't helping anybody out. The house was left to me and wanted a quick sale as it needed work done inside and i live 350 miles away. I did a private sale.

Hi
You do not need to do a property disposal return based on this.
However, should you wish to have the loss recognised in event of future gains, you will need to do that in writing within the next 4 years.
