Hi everyone, I have conducted thorough research within HMRC resources regarding the capital loss election for non-UK domiciled individuals utilizing the Remittance Basis on their UK tax returns. However, I have been unable to locate specific guidance regarding the reporting of foreign capital gains in the event such individuals have already made a Foreign Capital Loss Election in any previous tax year. Could you please clarify whether non-UK domiciled individuals applying the Remittance Basis rule on their UK returns are required to report foreign capital gains or they only report foreign loss to offset UK gains once they have made a Foreign Capital Loss Election? and only report foreign capital gains if they have remitted the gains into the UK or when they report worldwide income on their return.
