I would welcome some guidance on CGT and SDLT when selling my main home to buy another to live in when I also already own a second home. Example: In March I own a house (property 1 main home) and a flat (property 2 BTL). In April I buy another house (property 3 new main home) but don't sell (or let) my original property 1 main home until May. Will I have to pay 2nd home surcharge SDLT on property 3 when I buy it and/or CGT on property 1 when I sell that and if I do have to pay increased SDLT on property 3 can I claim that back when I sell property 1 ? Hope that makes sense. Thanks.
