Hi We are planning to sell our US house in first half CY24. After the sale we will be returning to the UK to reside permanently. We are both dual citizens. We will be exempt from US CGT due to not meeting the taxable threshold. If we return post April 6th 2024 (and post house sale) will we be liable for any UK CGT? As far as we can tell we should have UK exemption based on the current Private Residence Relief guidelines, however want to make sure this is accurate Thanks

Is there any update available for this question?

Hi Candj,
If the house has been your only and main residence for the whole period of ownership, no Capital Gains Tax in the UK will be due.
Thank you.
