I moved to UK with BNO Visa from Hong Kong on 28 June 2022. I sold my only main residence in Hong Kong on 3 March 2023. I had lived there for 18 years when leaving Hong Kong for UK. I neither let it out nor used it for business so far. The residence was sold during the final period of 9 months for exemptions. With reference to the information and the calculating work out provided by HMRC (HS283 Private Residence Relief 2022), there is no CGT payable and PRR will cover the full amount of the gain. Under my situation mentioned above, do I still need to submit a tax return (SA108) on the disposal of the main residence? How can I claim for PRR?

Hi,

As it was your main residence, you do not need to report it.

Thank you.
