If I was to sell my holiday home apartment, which is in Crete, Greece do you have to pay capital gains tax in the UK? Please note I have had the property for 18 years. Also is their capital gains tax to pay in Greece? A double tax treaty? Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Yes, you will need to pay UK capital gains. if you also pay this in Greece, you can claim Foreign Tax Credit Relief for the Greek tax paid in order to reduce your UK bill.

Tax when you sell property

Thank you.
