Hello, I own a property and live in it as my main and only residence (since 2017). My partner has his own property which he lives in and is his main and only residence (since 2014). We are selling both of our properties to purchase a joint property. We are hoping to get married in the near future. If we get married before we sell the first property will we be liable to pay CGT on the purchase or would we be exempt as long as the property sells within 9 months of marriage? If we are not exempt would CGT be charged on from the date of purchase or only for the months post-marriage when we owned 2 properties? Many thanks
