Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding Hs283 Private Residence Relief when selling a property. Q1) With regards to being eligible for the Private Residence Relief, do you need to meet ALL the criteria that is stated on the guidance page of Gov.uk? Q2) Where it is stated "the dwelling house has been your only or main residence throughout your period of ownership" - Does renting somewhere count as your main residence, or home? - For example, say I own a property jointly with someone, the other person lives within the property, where as I chose to live in another property that I rent and do not own. Does this mean I do not qualify for the Private Residence Relief as I am renting and living in another property? I've gone through the entire page on gov.uk about this but I cannot seem to figure out what happens in this particular circumstance as it does not say anything about it. Thank you.

Hi
That is corret.
As you have not lived in the property that you own, you do not qualify for residence relief.
Thankyou.
