Hi
You can claim for the cost of improvements you have made to the property since you became the property owner. Improvements are permanent changes that raise the value of a property, like adding extensions or garages. Normal maintainance costs can not be claimed. In this example replacing a basic kitchen or bathrom with a luxury version would normally be considered an improvement. However, replacing them with something of a similar standard is not normally considered an improvement.

Hi
Possibly if it is not your main home and not being gifted to a spouse or charity - Capital Gains Tax: what you pay it on, rates and allowances
