I complete a HMRC self assessment for UK rental income annually and have lived in my house in France since 2015. I intend to sell next year (after April) and return to the UK. Do I report the sale at the end of the 25/26 tax year on my self assessment return and can I claim private residence relief for the time of occupation. Whilst spending most years in my French House I spent 2020 in the UK from Feb to Dec (inclusive) mainly due to the Covid outbreak.

Hi,
If the house in france has been your main residence since ownership, then you do not need to report it:
Capital Gains Tax: what you pay it on, rates and allowances
Thank you
