Hi, Under the scenario below, will the buyback of shares be subject to the CGT? On 04May, I signed a contract to rent a house in the UK. At that moment, I was living abroad. On 06May, I sold stock shares. On 10May, I arrived in the UK and started to live in the house. Under split year treatment (case 8), my UK part started. On 15May, the stock price dropped and I bought back the same number of shares I sold on 06May. Thank you.

Hi HMRC admin, The gain due to the disposal and acquisition on 06May and 15May respectively will be taxed as interest but not CGT. When I sell the stock shares in the future, CGT will apply based on the acquisition price before 06May. Am I correct? Thank you.
