Hi Guys Probably a simple question, I have a shares account worth £53000, (present time on the stock market) my book cost was £26700, (the money I have put in) can I with draw £26700 and £6000 (allowance for this year) tax free. Thanks

Hi martin lawson,
If the increase is due to you selling shares then only the annual exempt amount of £6000 is tax free.
Whether you withdraw or not is irrelevant if the shares have been sold as the gain still needs to be reported.
