My wife and I have just sold a holiday apartment in France (September 2024) and we understand we are liable for CG tax, The advice from HMRC is confusing. We have been advised to complete a self assessment form but the only form available is for April 2023 - April 2024. We were also advised to complete form SA108 but this is for the same tax period and appears to deal only with UK property. Am I correct in believing we should use the self assessment form for April 2024 -April 2025 when it becomes available and until then pay no tax?

Hi,
Yes, that is correct. The CGT will need to be declared in 2024/2025 tax return.
Thanks.
