Hi, I sold a property in France in the last tax year and paid the equivalent of CGT there. I spoke to an HMRC advisor this morning who told me to add the Foreign Tax Credit Relief section to my tax return which I've just completed. My full Self Assessment form has now been completed but when I go to View my Calculation, I'm being asked: "Is this an attributable gain?". There's no help section for this part of the SA form so was wondering if someone can assist please.

Hi
As you have claimed the foreign tax credit relief, you will also need to declare the actual gain that you made.

Thanks for the reply, looks like I was over-thinking this question on the form, (I just wasn't sure about the terminology.) The answer is obviously: 'yes'.
