I have just sold my late mother's home, which I am about to complete the CGT process for, and will pay CGT for the gain which is over the threshold. In around six weeks time, I will also sell my late father's home, which will make a loss. Can you tell me whether the gain made on the first will be offset by the loss made on the second, or whether they are treated independently? And is the process of declaring CGT the same for both properties?

Hi hannah,
As the 2nd property results in a loss, there is no need to report using the 60 day reporting system. you can then claim the loss at the end of the tax year in your tax return.
Thank you.
