When my house was transferred to my name post divorce there is no paperwork to say what value was agreed. Neither I nor my ex can remember - it was over 20 years ago , and solicitor has no paperwork that far back. What can I use to value the property in 2005?

Hi
You would need to contact an estate agent to give you a valuation of similar properties that were sold at the same time of transfer.

Would HMRC accept this? If I just put the figure in the box when completing form do they then come back for evidence?

Hi,

You can attach a copy of the formal valuation when submitting the form.

Thank you.
