CGT on overseas property - use house price index to obtain past valuation (at inheritance)

Hello, As a UK tax resident, I had inherited a property abroad several years ago which I have sold recently. Can I a house price index to calculate the market value of this overseas property acquired by inheritance for the purpose of CGT (e.g. index provided by Federal Statistical Office in Germany for a property located in Germany)?

Hi,

A value would have been given for the property at the time you inheritied it and
this should be used as your 'purchae' price .
