I don't have much luck using the customs declaration service, so often pay through my bank. Unfortunately when paying last month, I used the previous reference number, which, as the website clearly states 'There will be a delay in clearing your goods if you give the wrong number.' Anyone who imports goods will know that delays can often equal high charges, such as demurrage. I contacted the bank, paid using the correct reference number, and they said they will try to recover the payment. Maybe i am naive, but I am flabbergasted that HMRC are actually refusing to refund me! Anyone else been in this situation that can offer advice please. Thank you
