Hi I am moving back to the UK from Spain where I have been a resident. I am organising all my furniture coming back in a van and this is all personal possessions from the house. I have hired a van to do this and a family member has agreed to do all the driving. What do I need to do for him to be able to bring the van load into the UK? Also does he need to clear customs before getting on a ferry and so will need more than the usual amount of time?

Hi noegdip,
You can get relief from customs charges due on personal belongings and other goods.
When transferring your place of residence to Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) or Northern Ireland from outside the EU.
lease see below link for more information:

Thank you.

I am relocating from Germany to the UK, I will be doing this over a 6 month period and will bring back my household goods in 2 or 3 loads. My questions are 1. Can a single TOR cover all 2 or 3 loads 2. If one load is done by myself driving a van hired in the UK do I need the TOR for that 3. What documentation do I need for my van trip other than proof of address for UK and Germany, passport, van hire agreement & insurance

Hi Andrew,
Yes, a single TOR can cover importation through different means.
