Hi, my mother wants to give me jewellery as wedding gift which is worth £3000 and a family heirloom. She lives abroad. If I travel back into the UK with the gift, do I have to declare and pay customs and VAT on it?

Hi sg437,
You can bring some goods from abroad without having to pay UK tax or duty.
If they are either for your own use or you want to give them as a gift.
Please see below link for more information.
