Hi Parcelforce are currently holding my parcel at customs. Inside the parcel is Old cheap jewellery and toys from my grans house when I lived there (purchased approx 30 years ago from charity shops) there’s like 82 items of brooches, earrings, crucifix etc no value all costume pieces Then there’s Christmas gifts for my 4 year old daughter from my aunt and the value is $150 Do I just put a dollar for each piece of jewellery or 50 cents as that’s what would have been paid for them Do I say these items are personal old items and list every piece of jewellery Then add these items are a gift and list my daughters gifts along with the value totalling $150

You may find this guidance useful https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty HMRC won’t tell you how to value the goods you are importing however you should try to get to a reasonable value .

 Hi JD15,
Anything posted or couriered to you from another country goes through customs to check it is not banned or restricted and you pay the right tax and ‘duty’ on it. You can check below link for more information.
Tax and customs for goods sent from abroad
You can also check trade tariff UK to find a commodity code for goods you’re importing to or exporting from the UK. This will allow you to check if there’s duty or VAT to pay and find out about suspensions or reductions.
Trade Tariff: look up commodity codes, duty and VAT rates
Please see below link on how to work out the customs value for Customs Duty, import VAT and trade statistics if you are an importer or clearing agent.
Working out the customs value of your imported goods.
Thank you,
