VAT on Residential Property Management Fees

Hi, Can VAT paid on residential property management fees be claimed as an expense on yearly tax returns?

Usually VAT would not be charged in respect of management fees paid for a rental property.

Could you give more background information as to why you have been charged VAT?

I am the landlord of the property and live abroad. The management company I use to manage the property on my behalf, charges VAT on the management fee it charges me each month. Thanks.

The amount of VAT deducted would be claimed as a total management fee expense figure when declaring your rental income and expenses.
