Hello, I will soon buy my first property in the UK which is worth over £40,000. I also own a small property abroad, the value of which is less than £40,000. My understanding is that, according to Stamp duty and other tax on property guidance which can be found on www.gov.uk, I will not pay the higher Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT), because the value of my property abroad is less than £40,000. Can someone confirm what the lower Stamp Duty rate is? Does HMRC require a document translated in English which proves the low value of the property abroad? Thank you.
