A Trust owns the freehold of a garage underlying 2 residential properties The leaseholder holds a 90y lease which grants right to occupy one of the residential properties and to only park a vehicle in the garage. The dwelling part of the property is subject to a different freehold. The Trust wants to assign/ sell/ transfer the freehold reversion (for a nominal value) to someone who has never owned a property. The question I have is: would this transfer mean the 'buyer' would lose their 1st time buyer sdlt relief eligibility on a future purchase of a dwelling in which to live?

Hi
Thank you for your question.
In line with your personal situation on stamp duty, as this forum relates to income from property questions, I would advise to contact the Stamp Duty Land Tax helpline on 0300 200 3510 who should be able to give a more in-depth answer to your query.
