Hi, We are looking to rent out our property and move out a week before. Is it possible to undertake repairs (repainting the wall, fixing/replacing a broken appliance) before moving out, or do we need to move out first. The guidance on gov.uk is clear that pre-letting expenses are ok, but just checking if this is still the case if we are still living at the property when the pre-letting expenses are incurred?

Hi,
You need to decide whether or not the work is wholly and exclusively for the rental business or is there a dual purpose? Whether you live in the property at the time that the work is carried out is irrelevant. You can see detailed guidance on wholly and exclusively here:

Hi, We have let our own home as unfurnished and therefore needed to empty the property of contents purely for the purpose of renting the property unfurnished. Are the removal costs associated to this along with the costs for storing these contents an allowable expense?
