Allowable expenses

I have prepared a property to rent out I have paid my birth mother £1000 to paint and decorate the property in preparation for the new tenants. (£250 a day x4 days) She is not a registered company and has no other income. Will this £1000 be deductible from my taxable income if an invoice is provided? Thanks.

The expenses will be allowable so long as they are incurred wholly and exclusively for your rental property business and are not capital in nature. You can see guidance regarding painting here:
