I was landlord of a single property. the tenants were evicted in January 2023 and the property was sold in August 2023. The property was empty from January 2023 until August whilst I made good the damage left behind by the tenants - are the cost of these repairs allowable against the rents received up to January? These were NOT improvements, they were simply putting the property back to the same condition as it was when the tenants moved in,

Hi,
Post cessation expenses are allowable because the work you have carried out would have been allowed had the tenants remained in the property until the date in August:
PIM3000 which clearly states this.
Thankyou.
