Hello all, I am currently working abroad and am renting my flat at home in the U.K. I am filling in my online tax return and I have calculated the income I received. I had a tenant up until mid July and then no one for the rest of the taxable period. My question is, when calculating my expenses, do I only include my council tax and ground rent up until July as that is when I was receiving income, or do I total the expenses for the entire year even though I didn't have a tenant for the majority of it?
