Hi. I am newly moving from overseas and has become tax resident since 23/24. I still owned a property in overseas so need to report that rental income, apart from the expense that occurs in n 23/24, there was also other expenses occurred previously ( a few years back) when I purchased the property. Can I carry those previously occured expenses to be deducted in 23/24? I was not UK tax resident before 23/24 fiscal year.

Hi,
Only expenses incurred after you commenced letting the property can be claimed against your letting income. Also, you should contact the tax authorities where the property is located, as they may have different rules and regulations and they may also have the taxing rights on profits from the foreign property.
Thank you.
