Hi there, I recently double-glazed some windows in a flat I rent out, to upgrade my EPC level to grade C. When filling in my self-assessment form this year, can I claim these costs against allowable expenses? And can things like parking costs, and train tickets required to manage this work, be included in the allowable expense claim - or just the cost for the work itself? Many thanks for all advice!

Hi,

You cannot claim for the windows as this is capital expenditure, you will claim this when you sell the property against any potential gain.

You can only include the travel expenses if the journey was solely in relation to visiting the property.

Thank you.
