Hi, I currently own outright a house that I intend to rent out. My spouse is not on the deeds of the house (house was purchased before we married) but I would like to transfer 100% of the rent to him as he is not working. Upon researching this, it seems a Deed of Assignment is required (please correct me if this is not the case). My questions are, is this the ONLY document that is needed to show to HMRC or is there anything else that is required? Also, after completion of the document, in self-assessment/tax returns how do we provide this evidence to HMRC? THank you in advance for your time and help.

Hi lbb2008 Liu,
As the house is in your name only, then yes.
You will receive an acknoweldgement and the new split can apply from then.
Until such time, the rent should continue to be declared by you.
Thank you.
