Hi,

If you are having issues with connecting up your software to your business tax account we would suggest that you firstly speak to the software provider to rule out any issues their end,

If the problem does not lie with the software then please contact our VAT team again to see if we can diagnose the issue for you.

Thanks HMRC - we have been trying to fix with our System provider for more than a week. In response to your note above they saidand they said: "Hi Bill, we have checked against other customers and the setup etc is exactly the same. We can’t debug as it will hang as it leaves Nav to use the gateway. It needs reporting to HMRC as we believe the error to be at their end." and that "We will check other connections but it is worth reporting to HMRC in the meantime. We have customers who had similar issues previously" Is there any way you can check from your endwhether our system is connecting properly to yours? Many thanks

The issue now resolved - maybe helpful for you or others to note: As it turns out, it seems to be that the admin accounts that were being used on the NAV server were being blocked by our physical firewall for the api.service.hmrc.gov.uk but most sites could get through fine. Our finance system support ( external) needed help from the the external IT support that we were using who has a far better understanding of the physical firewall. This was then unblocked and allowed through the firewall, so NAV can now access the HMRC site as expected. It was a firewall issue.
