I have completed form CF38 and received my acceptance to pay along with my Voluntary NICs Shortfall table. This is great. I now have a few questions; 1. Sending a cheque by mail from my US bank account do I convert the amount from pounds to dollars? What if the conversion rate changes slightly while the cheque is on its way? 2. Is there an online way to send the money quicker? My bank has never heard of CHAPS or BACs. Can I set up a direct debit from a US bank account? Please do not refer me to your website!! I have read & read and it is very confusing and just sends me around in circles. Thank You!!

Hi,
Your US bank may know the system as ‘wire transfers’.
Our bank details are:
Business Identifier Code (BIC):  BARCGB22, Account Number (IBAN):  BARC 2020 4830 944793, Account Name:  HMRC NIC Receipts.
When sending payment by wire transfer please include your Reference Number which is in the following format:
Your National Insurance Number followed by IC then your surname and then your initial or as much of your name as possible.
For example:  QQ123456AICJONESA
If you’d rather send a cheque to us then your bank may be able to provide you with one in Sterling after they have done all the conversions and you would send it to us with a covering letter.
Thank you.
