I am a stay at home mother with a 16 year old child still in full time secondary education. My husband is a high earner (salary over £80k per year). I currently have no individual income and have gaps in my NI record. If I claimed child benefit for my 16 year old would I receive NI credits towards my state pension?

Hi,
Whilst a claim for Child Benefit can be made for a child over 12, the NI credits associated with a claim to child benefit after 2010 end on the child’s 12th birthday. More information is available here:
National Insurance credits
