Dear Admin This ask is about paying Voluntary National Insurance contributions to increase State Pension at Retirement Age. I was born in Hong Kong and arrived in UK on Jan2022. I did not live, work or study in UK before 2022. I started working in UK on Feb2022. I was working in Hong Kong between 2000 - 2022. When checking my personal National Insurance record via www.gov.uk The earliest Voluntary National Insurance contributions I can made is for Tax Year 2021/2022. Is there any means to pay additional, Voluntary National Insurance contributions before Tax Year 2021/2022 i.e. Tax Year 2020/2021, 2019/2020 etc Thanks.

Hi taxBear,
From your statement that you entered the UK for the first time in 2021/22 and have now obtained a National Insurance number, you can only pay for the tax year you entered the UK –  Tax year 2021/2022 and onwards.
Depending on when you reach state pension age you may benefit from speaking to the future pension centre at the Department for Work and Pensions to see if you are able to attain the minimum years needed in order to receive the low amount of State Pension.
