I am mostly looking after our young children and my husband is the main earner in the household. But I am self-employed as a babysitter to bring in a bit of extra money for our family. I usually earn 2000 a year or less. Can I pay Class 2 NI contributions, even though my earnings is not what I mostly live on?

Hi,

You can register as self employed here:

Check how to register for Self Assessment

If you are already registered, then when you complete your Self Assessment tax return you can opt to pay the class 2 NI contributions voluntarily.

Thank you.
