I completed my Self Assessment form in May. My only NI relevant earnings were from Self Employment. My profit was between the Small Profits Threshold of £6,725 and the Lower Profits Limit threshold for class 4 NI of £12,570, meaning my NI contributions are to be ‘treated as made’. I have been waiting for my NI record to update to reflect that my NI contributions are 'treated as made' for several months but they still show as 'Your record for this year is not available yet'. As this was new legislation this year is there a process in place for this to happen automatically from my SA form submission or do I need to phone up and make it happen because HMRC do not have a process in place and intend to deal with each case one by one?

How do self-employed earnings between £6,725 and £12,570 generate a 'treated as made' NI contribution for the year. This has not happened yet for my 2023/24 record. Can I get guidance please?

Hi,
This process should be automatic.
If your NI record has not yet updated, you will need to contact the NI helpline on 0300 200 3500. Lines are open 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
Thank you
