Despite having 44 years NI contributions I don’t get full state pension. My records show I have 6 years missing NI as I gave up work 6 years before state pension age. I’ve been told 35 qualifying years is counted back from pensionable age which is the reason for the reduction - is this right?

Hi,

You need to contact the Pension Service using link below. They will explain why 44 qualifying years isn’t sufficient to achieve a full state pension.

Contact the Pension Service

Should you then like to pay Class 3 voluntary NICs you can contact the National Insurance Helpline and advise which Tax years you would like to pay, our advisor will then advise how to pay.

Thank you.
