I applied successfully to pay Class 2 NICs for the 'gap' years since I've been working/living abroad. In the letter containing the approval, there was a table of each year and the shortfall rates at the Class 2 levels. However, my online record shows the 'gap' years at the full Class 3 rates still, a month later. How can I make sure if I send a payment at the Class 2 shortfall rate from a UK bank account, that a year then qualifies. Do the amounts I've been given in writing automatically supersede the online record list and therefore I just need to begin making bank payments as per the shortfall amounts in the letter?

Hi Justin Orton,
Your online account will only ever show you the Class 3 amounts.
Please refer to your approved class rates on the INSL33 letter you were issued in response to your CF83 application.
Once you have made payment we will allocate these to your record and the status of the years will change to tax year full.
Thank you.

Thank you for the reply, that's very helpful. However, as the amounts I need to pay per year may change according to my INSL33 as early as a couple of weeks time, how do I check what is currently the correct amount to pay for a particular year? Can I only do that by 'phone?
