Do I need to fill in any other forms (like self-assessment tax return) when paying class 3 voluntary contribution? Because in the GOV website, it mentioned: 'Other reasons for sending a return (which referred to self-assessment tax return) You can choose to fill in a tax return to: - claim some Income Tax reliefs - prove you’re self-employed, for example to claim Tax-Free Childcare or Maternity Allowance - pay voluntary National Insurance contributions' Thank you very much!

Hi,

Before paying voluntary National Insurance contributions you should check your State Pension entitlement to make sure that it is worth paying voluntary contributions. You can do this here:

Check your State Pension forecast

If you still wish to pay voluntary contributions after checking your pension entitlement then please contact our National Insurance team and they will give you our bank details and an 18 digit reference number to include with your payment.

National Insurance: general enquiries

If you are overseas, you should complete the CF83 application form to apply to pay voluntary contributions after checking your pension entitlement.  You can find the CF83 may be found here:

Apply to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions when abroad (CF83)

Thank you.
