My employer usually pays me monthly. But sometimes my employer issues 2-3 payslips during a month to reflect equity compensation. Should the weekly NI threshold be used during the months with multiple payslips or should the monthly threshold be used on the total of that month’s payments? It makes quite a difference and it seems like I am paying more just because my employer decided to issue multiple payslips instead of do all the accounting in a single payslip that month.

Hi bluehorizon,
If you are on pay as you earn employment you receive payslips as you are paid, monthly and at alternative times as you have mentioned equity compensation that may be separate to your normal salary.
You can discuss this further with the Citizens advice or ACAS.
Thank you.
