Hi HMRC Admin, I worked for an overseas employer which has no business in UK for the first month when I came to UK and was living in a hotel room. After the first month, the contract was changed to self-employed service provider with no basic salary and no benefit. I have filed a self assessment for the employed and self-employed incomes. Do I still need to specifically pay the NI for that income when I was employed? Or the NI has been paid via self assessment? Thank you very much!

Hi Rah,
If you are registered for Self Assessment you need to be registered for self-employment to pay Class 2 National Insurance (NI)
If you are registered for self employment, then your NI charge is within your NI/tax calculation.
However, if you received a payslip for your employed period any National Insurance paid will be found on there.
Please call the NI helpline to clarify your position.
National Insurance: general enquiries
Thank you.
